Top Starting Point

Silvretta Montafon is divided into two sections: Nova around Gaschurn and St. Gallenkirch, and Hochjoch around Schruns. The Grasjochbahn and Valiserabahn connect the two sides of the valley in St. Gallenkirch, making it the only village in Montafon offering convenient access to both sides of Silvretta Montafon.

The Garfrescha Bahn is located opposite Genusshotel Vermala, just 350 metres away, and takes you directly into the ski area – without queuing from 8.30 am. Your ski day also ends here on the Garfrescha valley run.

In the morning, our hotel shuttle takes you to the Garfrescha Bahn, 350 metres away, as well as the Valiserabahn and Grasjochbahn, approximately 2 kilometres away. In the afternoon, we collect you again from the end of the valley run at the Garfrescha Bahn.

After a day of skiing, you can store your ski equipment on the lower ground floor of the main hotel building at Genusshotel Vermala. Lockable storage lockers can also be booked on request. From the ski room, a tunnel leads directly to the waiting area for the hotel’s Vermala ski shuttle.

With the Montafon Brandnertal Multi-Day WildPass, one ski pass gives you access to ten winter sports areas across Montafon, Brandnertal and Walgau, as well as complimentary travel by bus and train. Of these, 218 kilometres of pistes and 60 lifts are located in Montafon. The flexible WildPass is another interesting option, allowing you to purchase a selected number of skiing days to use during your holiday in Montafon.

Family-friendly offer: From mid-March until the end of the season, children under the age of 18 ski free of charge when at least one parent purchases a Multi-Day WildPass valid for 5 days or more.

For Beginners & Advanced Skiers

Whether you are an experienced skier or just starting out, the ski schools at Silvretta Montafon teach with genuine enthusiasm. Group and private lessons help you improve your skills during your ski course in Montafon. Children and teenagers can make new friends in dedicated courses while learning their first skills through play. Lessons are also available in other disciplines, including snowboarding, cross-country skiing and ski touring.

We recommend reserving your place at the St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl Ski School well in advance. Should it already be fully booked, the Schruns Ski School or Gaschurn-Partenen Ski School are suitable alternatives.

Hochjoch Totale – Vorarlberg’s Longest Valley Run

  • At 12 kilometres, the Hochjoch Totale is the longest valley run in Vorarlberg. It leads from the highest point of the ski area at 2,430 metres down to Schruns at 690 metres. The Hochjoch valley run will not only make your thighs burn, but also impress you with its unique panoramic views.

Our Tip

A Truly Cross-Border Adventure

From Partenen, take the Vermuntbahn from 8.30 am and continue by tunnel taxi to the Bielerhöhe and the Silvretta reservoir. We recommend your first stop with Peter at Gasthof Piz Buin for fried eggs and bacon. The route then continues with a fast descent through Kleinvermunt towards Galtür. During your ski day in the Galtür ski area, a second stop at Weiberhimmel is a must – your second stop promises a fantastic atmosphere.

In the afternoon, a snow groomer tows guests up to Zeinisjoch. From there, the final descent of the day leads back into Vorarlberg. This completes a full circuit around the Vallüla. The route then continues through the Ganifertal back to the starting point in Partenen. Tickets are available from the Vermuntbahn.
