Your way to St. Gallenkirch in the Montafon

Hotel Vermala is located at 920 metres above sea level in St. Gallenkirch, Montafon in Vorarlberg, the westernmost province of Austria and neighbour of Tyrol.

The Silvretta Montafon ski area, the 10th largest ski area in Austria with 141 kilometres of pistes, stretches from an altitude of 700 metres up to 2430 metres from Schruns via St. Gallenkirch to Gaschurn. The Montafon hiking area is framed by the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall mountain ranges.

the Montafon valley borders Switzerland (Klosters and Davos) to the south-west, the Brandnertal valley to the north-west, the Klostertal Arlberg region to the north-east and the Paznaun valley (Ischgl and Galtür) to the south-east at the end of the valley.

Travelling by car

Travelling from Germany, Benelux & Scandinavia

Via the A7 and A96 motorways to the Lindau/Hörbranz border crossing to Vorarlberg on the A14 motorway past Bregenz - Dornbirn - Feldkirch to Bludenz. Take the Montafon exit, past Vandans - Schruns - Tschagguns to St. Gallenkirch. After the turn-off to the Garfrescha cable car, continue for another 200 metres and you will see the hotel entrance on the left-hand side.

 

Travelling from Switzerland, France & Liechtenstein

In Switzerland, take the A13 motorway at Schaan in Liechtenstein onto the S16. At the Schaanwald/Feldkirch/Tisis border crossing into Austria, continue through Feldkirch onto the A14 motorway towards Innsbruck. Take the Montafon exit, past Vandans - Schruns - Tschagguns to St. Gallenkirch. After the turn-off to the Garfrescha cable car, continue for another 200 metres and you will see the hotel entrance on the left-hand side.

Travelling from Austria & Italy

Coming from the Brenner Pass or Kufstein on the A12 towards Bregenz, past Landeck, over the Arlberg Pass (1793 metres altitude) or through the Arlberg Tunnel (toll), continue to Bludenz. Take the Montafon exit, past Vandans - Schruns - Tschagguns to St. Gallenkirch. After the turn-off to the Garfrescha cable car, continue for another 200 metres and you will see the hotel entrance on the left-hand side.

ALTERNATIVE FOR PLEASURE DRIVERS: from Landeck through the Paznaun Valley, past Ischgl and Galtür, via the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße Bielerhöhe (toll) into the Montafon. From Partenen, past Gaschurn, you will see us on the right-hand side directly at the town sign for St. Gallenkirch.

 

Good to know:

Motorway toll sticker: you need a toll sticker on the Austrian motorways. The digital vignette for all Austrian motorways and the digital route toll (Brenner motorway & Arlberg road tunnel) for cars and motorbikes can be purchased online directly from ASFINAG.

Winter tyres compulsory: from 1 November to 15 April, winter tyres are compulsory throughout Austria in winter road conditions.

Travelling by train

Travel in comfort by train. The nearest ÖBB railway station is Bludenz, from where the Montafon Railway runs regularly into the Montafon as far as Schruns. Continue with the Landbus Montafon and line 650 to the St. Gallenkirch Garfrescha Bahn stop. If you book in advance, our hotel bus will take you from Schruns railway station to the Genusshotel Vermala and back again on departure, subject to availability.

Travelling by plane

The nearest airports are Zurich or Altenrhein (Switzerland), Memmingen or Friedrichshafen (Germany) and Innsbruck (Austria). From there, you can easily get to St. Gallenkirch by train or hire car. Alternatively, you can also book an airport transfer.

Travelling on foot

Long-distance hikers reach us:

  • From Switzerland over the Schlappiner Joch (2202 metres in altitude) to Gargellen and on to St. Gallenkirch.
  • From Tyrol through the Schönverwall Valley, over the Garschurner Winterjöchli (2340 metres in altitude) into the Valschaviel Valley to Gaschurn and on to St. Gallenkirch.

Parking at the Genusshotel Vermala

Free parking spaces are available for our hotel and restaurant guests directly at the Vermala pleasure hotel. For guests of the flat house there is one parking space per flat directly in front of the flat house.

E-charging stations

Two charging stations for electric cars with 11 KW each are available for our guests directly in front of the Genusshotel Vermala (for a fee). You can easily obtain a chip at reception to start the charging process. The bill can then be paid directly or simply booked to your room/apartment.
