Our Mountain Hut in Montafon
Vermala Wirt on Garfrescha is our own mountain hut in Montafon and a wonderful place to stop at an altitude of around 1,500 metres. Enjoy Austrian classics, homemade specialities, refreshing drinks and magnificent views across St. Gallenkirch. The hut is located near the Garfrescha treasure hunt and is easy to reach – by bike or e-bike from Genusshotel Vermala, on foot via scenic hiking trails or with the Garfrescha Bahn. During winter, Vermala Wirt is known as an après-ski hut and is also a popular event and wedding venue in Montafon.

Lindauer Hütte
In the Rätikon
Lindauer Hütte lies at an altitude of 1,744 metres in the picturesque Gauertal in the Rätikon mountains of Montafon, Vorarlberg, and is certainly one of the most frequently visited huts in the region. Nestled at the foot of the impressive Drei Türme and surrounded by one of the most beautiful valley heads in the Alps, it is a popular destination for hikers, bikers and mountaineers. A beautifully maintained alpine garden can be found directly beside the hut.
The shortest route to Lindauer Hütte begins at the Golmerbahn mountain station and follows the Latschätzer Höhenweg. Alternatively, a shaded woodland trail leads from the Golmerbahn station at Matschwitz to Alpe Latschätz and continues from there to Lindauer Hütte.

Wiesbadener Hütte
In the Silvretta
Wiesbadener Hütte is best reached from the Bielerhöhe through the Ochsental in approximately two hours or through the Bieltal via the Radsattel in around three hours. Mountain crossings lead onwards to Saarbrücker Hütte and Tübinger Hütte. The hut is a popular hiking destination in both summer and winter. It is also a high-alpine training base with numerous practice opportunities, excellent glacier terrain for crevasse-rescue training and climbing crags close to the hut. Please note that payment is by cash only.

Neue Heilbronner Hütte
In the Verwall
Neue Heilbronner Hütte lies in a peaceful side valley amid the impressive alpine landscape of the Verwall mountains. Zeinisjoch near the Kops reservoir is an ideal starting point for a hike or mountain-bike tour to the hut at 2,320 metres. An e-bike charging station, Kneipp pool and climbing wall are available at the hut. The kitchen serves hearty traditional dishes and specialities from Montafon. New additions include homemade lemonades, hut fondue and vegan dishes, while the delicious homemade strudel varieties are particularly popular.

Tilisunahütte
In the Rätikon
Tilisunahütte is located in one of the most beautiful marmot habitats in the region and directly on the geological boundary between limestone and ancient crystalline rock. Special alpine flora and magnificent views towards the Lechquellen mountains and the Verwall await. The sunny terrace offers wide views across Lake Tilisuna and Tilisuna Seehorn. Approaches from the Austrian side lead from Tschagguns via Grabs, through the Gampadelstal and Walseralpe or, from St. Gallenkirch, along the particularly secluded route across Gweiljoch.

Wormser Hütte at Hochjoch
In the Verwall
Wormser Hütte is located in the heart of the Hochjoch skiing and hiking area and is easy to reach using the Hochjochbahn and Sennigrat chairlift. Whether in the rustic dining room or on the magnificent sunny terrace, the hut delights guests in both summer and winter with its welcoming atmosphere and breathtaking mountain scenery. The hut was constructed at an altitude of 2,307 metres by the Worms section of the German Alpine Club in 1907, entirely without mechanical assistance. Extensive renovation and extension work over recent years has created accommodation for 64 overnight guests. This is where you will find the best apple strudel in the valley.

Tübinger Hütte
In the Silvretta
Tübinger Hütte lies amid the magnificent mountain scenery of the Silvretta at the end of the Garneratal, at an altitude of 2,193 metres. This secluded refuge hut, operated by the Tübingen section of the German Alpine Club, is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, e-bikers, ski tourers, climbers and mountaineers. Approach routes lead from the Vermunt reservoir, from Gaschurn or the Versettlabahn middle station through the Garneratal, or from Gargellen through the Vergaldental. The most beautiful option is undoubtedly the high-altitude route along the Erich-Endriss-Weg from the Versettlabahn mountain station – one of the most beautiful ridge hikes in Vorarlberg.

Carschinahütte

Take a detour to visit our much-loved neighbours in Switzerland. Carschinahütte is a popular mountain hut located just a short walk beyond the border at Drusentor. The Rätikon is a paradise for hikers, bikers and climbers, and Carschinahütte lies right at its heart, at the foot of the Sulzfluh above St. Antönien at an altitude of 2,236 metres. With a little luck and clear weather, you can end the day with a magnificent sunset.

Alpe Nova in St. Gallenkirch
Alpe Nova lies at an altitude of 1,730 metres in the Novatal within the municipality of St. Gallenkirch. A total of 84 hectares of alpine pasture are farmed here. The alpine pasture can be reached on foot or by bike via Garfrescha. At Alpe Nova, you can gain fascinating insights into how Montafon Sura Kees is made – a regional speciality that has shaped Vorarlberg’s southernmost valley for centuries.

Alpe Zamang in St. Gallenkircha
Alpe Zamang lies at an altitude of 1,860 metres on the southern slope of Zamangspitze within the municipality of St. Gallenkirch and can be seen from the hotel. A total of 56 hectares of alpine pasture are farmed here, with dairy cows and alpine pigs grazing on the land. Alpe Zamang can be reached on foot.
Alpe Wasserstubental in Silbertal
Obere Wasserstuben Alpe lies at an altitude of 1,730 metres within the municipality of Silbertal, between Sonnenkopf and Kristberg. A total of 120 hectares of alpine pasture are farmed here. The alpine pasture can be reached on foot or by bike from Kristberg. The alpine farmers are delighted to welcome hikers and mountain bikers and serve a traditional platter with cheese and bacon, accompanied by a strong local schnapps.
Alpe Innerkapell at Hochjoch
Alpe Innerkapell lies at an altitude of 1,670 metres within the municipality of Silbertal, beside the lake circular trail at Hochjoch. A total of 50 hectares of alpine pasture are farmed here. The alpine pasture can be reached on foot from the Hochjochbahn mountain station and is also suitable for pushchairs, although the return route leads uphill. It is a lovely place to stop, with magnificent views and a playground.
Alpe Vergalden in Gargellen
Alpe Vergalda lies at an altitude of 1,820 metres in the Vergaldental near the Swiss border, within the St. Gallenkirch–Gargellen municipal area. A total of 380 hectares of alpine pasture are farmed here. The alpine pasture can be reached on foot or by bike from Gargellen and offers a lovely place for the whole family to stop for refreshments.
Alpe Verbella near Gaschurn
Alpe Verbella lies at an altitude of 1,938 metres within the municipality of Gaschurn, along the route from the Kops reservoir to Neue Heilbronner Hütte. The alpine pasture can be reached on foot or with our Vermala e-bikes and is a beautiful place to pause and enjoy the surroundings.
