The trail begins at the Schafbergbahn valley station. From there, follow the route up the valley towards Vergalda, through a small forest and onwards to the bridge over the Valzifenzbach. After crossing the bridge, you will reach the historic lime kiln. Continue through the forest to another bridge, which leads to Gitzistee. The path then crosses the Schwefeltobel and passes two viewpoints before reaching the Alptobel. A zigzag trail and the first limestone rocks lead onwards to the barn at Rüti. The route then continues to Ronggalpe, where you should not miss the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing glass of buttermilk. From there, walk towards Röbi before gradually descending back towards Gargellen. After crossing to the opposite side of the valley, continue to Juliusruhe. The final section follows a meadow path and leads through the Vergaldner Wäldle towards Vergalda before returning to the starting point. The different Gargellner Fenster and viewpoints are distributed along the entire trail.

Gargellner Fenster: A Village Project in Gargellen

As part of the Bergdorf 2025 initiative and in preparation for the Gargellner Fenster project, the community has worked together to enhance the village since May 2018. During a large-scale campaign, trees were felled to restore the open and welcoming appearance that Gargellen was known for in earlier times. Further community projects focused on revitalising and creating the Gargellner Fenster Trail. The entire village joined forces once again, with generations working hand in hand to create something truly unique.
